2026 Call For Officers

Interested in becoming a member of the VAMLIS Executive Board for 2026-2027? This letter is an open call for three Officer positions on the Virginia Association for Mapping and Land Information Systems (VAMLIS) Executive Board.


Here is a summary of the 3 open positions for the VAMLIS Executive Board for 2026-2027:

  • President-Elect: Act as the coordinator of Committees and work closely with Board members and our volunteers in preparing for the next GeoCon; you’ll observe, pitch-in and learn the ropes. (Term runs from July 1, 2026, to June 30, 2027. The President role is filled by the previous year’s President-Elect. The Past-President role is assumed by the most recent President in the year following his or her term. Therefore, the President-Elect position is a 3-year commitment.)
  • Vice President: Coordinates the distribution of VAMLIS news, including upkeep of the website and LinkedIn, and organizer of VAMLIS webinars and non-conference events. (Term runs one year from July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2027)
  • Treasurer: Is the Chief Financial Officer of the Association, with custody of all funds, securities and legal instruments and is responsible for their safekeeping. (Term runs two years from July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2028)

If you are interested in running for any of these positions, please send your name, preferred position, and a short bio to pastpresident@vamlis.orgAll submissions must be received by March 1, 2026 to be considered by the Nominating Committee for recommendation onto the slate of officers’ ballot. This year’s Nominating Committee will be made up of the following VAMLIS members:

  • Private: Kieren Smith (GFT)
  • Education: Chris Broschart (VCU)
  • Public/Government: Bill Richter (Hanover County IT)

Please note that you must be a current member to vote for or hold a position on the VAMLIS Board, so please renew your annual membership for FY2025-26 at vamlis.org.


Candidates will be published in April and 30 days afterward voting by VAMLIS members will commence in May.
